The Benefits Outreach Program screens working individuals and families for public benefits, such as SNAP (formerly food stamps), energy assistance, subsidized child care, and Medicaid. The SNAP program helps working households access nutritious food and avoid food insecurity. Yet, a significant proportion of eligible households continue to miss out. Studies indicate that, in Georgia, 35% of the eligible households do not participate in the program. Increasing participation by just five percent would generate an estimated $72 million of economic activity in Georgia, thus helping these individuals and families gain financial support and improve employment stability.
The Atlanta Prosperity Campaign would like to come to your place of business, your agency, or your community to offer this Benefits Outreach Program. We can come to your site for a specified number of days and screen your employees to determine eligibility for a wide range of economic benefits. The APC will provide all the necessary volunteers and equipment. All we need from you is the private space for the screeners and help promoting the program to your employees, residents, or community members.
